Welcome to your home under the sea: Buceo Almuñecar
We were founded on a clear philosophy: to be a small centre where customers arrive as divers and leave as friends. Our dive centre is situated in a prime location, right in front of the Peñones de San Cristobal Natural Monument. From here, we have easy access to the water for diving in La Herradura and also in Almuñécar. Dive with us in marine gems such as the Punta de la Mona Special Area of Conservation and the Maro-Cerro Gordo Natural Park, where the biodiversity will surprise you on every dive.
The best diving on the Costa Tropical starts right on our doorstep!"

Frequently Asked Questions
Anyone can dive without prior experience or special physical requirements. To ensure your medical history is not incompatible with diving, you will need to complete a 10-question medical questionnaire.
All you need to bring is your swimwear and a towel, and plenty of enthusiasm to have a good time.
The minimum age for a trial dive is 8 years old, and 10 years old for the first diving course: the Open Water Diver.
If you want to become a diver, you’ll need to complete the Open Water Diver course. This is the first level of diving, which allows you to dive anywhere in the world to a depth of 18 metres.
Diving is a very safe activity, but you must follow certain rules (which is why we always hold a pre-dive briefing to explain how to dive safely) and be in good physical condition (which is why we ask you to complete a medical questionnaire to check whether any of your medical history might be incompatible with diving).
The biggest risk with diving is falling in love with the sport and wanting to do it again.
No, it doesn’t expire; it’s a lifelong qualification recognised worldwide.
Of course you can; you can wear contact lenses or a prescription diving mask.
Recreational divers breathe air, not oxygen. The air in a diving tank is just like the air we breathe, but filtered to remove impurities.
According to DAN (Divers Alert Network) recommendations, we should wait:
- 12 hours if we have made a single dive.
- 18 hours if we have made several dives on the same day.
- 24 hours if you have had to stop for decompression.
