We offer this speciality for those who want to help recover objects from the seabed and learn new diving skills. The ultimate aim of the course is to retrieve a wheel or a concrete block from the sea.
Planning – Organisation – Safety
You’ll learn how to plan an underwater search, organise a recovery operation and retrieve an object, whilst ensuring you follow the appropriate safety measures at all times. You’ll have fun and develop new skills so that, together, we can help protect the environment.

Search and Recovery
- All diving equipment hire, including: dive computers, marker buoys and lift bags.
- Access to the SSI platform to take the theory test online.
- 2 dives in the sea.
- Certification costs.
- Theory section: we’ll give you access to the SSI online platform so you can study the theory at home, at your own pace. You’ll learn the techniques and skills required for this course.
- Practical component: three dives in the sea, the first in confined waters and the second and third in open water. Positioning a guide line, selecting and carrying out search patterns, and bringing an object to the surface using a lift bag are the skills we will teach you in this speciality.
- To be 12 years old.
- Hold an SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.
- Valid diving insurance.
- This course requires three dives; ideally, these should be completed over two consecutive days, but they can be done on separate days if that suits you better.
